Best places to visit in Mount Abu

Guru Shikhar

Located at the height of 1722mts from sea level, this happens to be the highest point of the Aravalli mountains. Trekking for half an hour will eventually take you to the peak of the mountain. Apart from the enchanting landscape of the city below, an ancient temple dedicated to Guru Dattatreya, the incarnation of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva is also located on the top.

Nakki Lake

Nakki Lake is the only Indian artificial lake that is situated at a height of 1200mts above sea level. As per the legends, Nakki Lake has gained this name as it is believed that it was dug by the deities with their nails. Boating in the lake during the sunset will make you build memories for a lifetime.

Dilwara Temple

Dilwara temple is an architectural marvel built entirely of marble. This 11th-13th century white pagoda is dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras. Intricate carvings and opulent architecture are found in every corner of the temple. The profusion of petals, lotus buds, and flowers carved on the ceilings and pillars lend a distinctive look to the temple. Carved corridors, courtyards, arches, and porticos are other distinctive features of the temple.

Achalgarh

Achalgarh fort is located in a peaceful corner of the city, at a distance of 11km from Mount Abu. Though the fort now stands in a dilapidated state, the prime attraction here is a famous Shiv temple of Achaleshwar Mahadev and Mandakini Lake which lies within the complex of the fort. In the center of Achaleshwar Mahadev, there is a sculptured statue of Nandi made with the amalgamation of 5 metals (bronze, gold, zinc, copper & brass).

Om Shanti Bhawan

Universal Peace Hall of the Brahma Kumaris, located in Mount Abu is an attractive splendid structure painted in serene white. The hall has a seating capacity of around 5000 persons. Arbuda Devi temple

Located at the distance of 3km from Mount Abu Arbuda Devi temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. The temple can be reached by climbing a flight of 365 stairs with bells hanging in the middle on regular intervals. The inner shrine can be reached by crawling through a narrow opening in the cave. The temple is believed to be named after the ‘Adhar’ of the Goddess Durga, which fell at the site and was found hanging in mid-air.

Sunset Point

Lying to the south-west of Nakki Lake, as the name suggests sunset point is known for the mesmerizing view of the sun setting down behind the Aravallis. The ideal time to visit this place is during dusk. After enjoying the view of the valley below and the sunset, you can shop for souvenirs in the small shops on both side of the path.

Honeymoon Point

Located at an elevation 4000ft Honeymoon point is known for the beautiful view of the valley below and the sprawling greenery around. It has been named so mainly because of the Love Rock that is located here. It is often known as Anadara Point as well. Just take the picturesque route running by the side of the Nakki Lake and you are there.
